Road to Medieval Town
Rothenburg, Germany

Perched nearly 200 feet above the Tauber River, Rothenburg is one of the most visited towns along Germany's Romantic Road, or "Romantische Strasse" in Bavaria, north of Munich.

The earliest settlement was by Celtic Tribes in around 500bc. The village of Detwang, nowadays part of the town, was founded about 960ad.Ten years later, the first medieval stronghold was built.

The Image

In this picture, I wanted to capture the dualism of the farm life and the elevated township, perched on the hilltop. Applying Photoshop Cutout filter to the image reduces it to the wet road through the farm dwellings, and the aloof feeling of the town, high above.
