Turquoise Lake

Nestling amongst the craggy mountains and ancient glaciers of the Rockies, the origins of the pile of rock that hold back Moraine Lake in Banff National Park, north of Calgary, still present an enigma.

Suspended particles of finely ground rock give this unique, small body of water its rich greenish blue coloring.

In this photograph, I have used a vertical format to give the sense of shallow water and lake bed at the bottom of the picture, and the greater depth of the lake towards the mountains behind.
