Waiting for the Train
Union Station - Los Angeles

Los Angeles' Union Station is steeped in history, for its role in the transport to the city, as well as being used for many movies, including "Blade Runner". Still very much in use today, this shot captures the essence of a bygone era, as a sole passenger reads while he waits.

PHOTO TIP: A picture like this needs lots of depth of field. That means a very small aperture (F16 or 22). Ideally, a tripod would be used, to offset the slow shutter speed, or you would use a high speed film, giving you back a faster shutter speed. Since in this case, you need crispness in the distance (for the seated man and the clock), your point of focus is about one third or the way into the picture.

Listen to the challenges of this shot!
